We say your data stays in Europe — and we want to be precise about exactly what that means, including the one case where it does not.
Where your documents are stored
The documents you upload are stored in Cloudflare R2 object storage in the European Union. Your files stay in the EU.
How your documents are processed by default
By default, extractions are processed by Mistral, an AI provider based in France. So out of the box, both storage and AI processing happen in Europe.
The bring-your-own-key (BYOK) caveat
Tracore is model-agnostic. You can connect your own provider key for OpenAI, Anthropic, or Google. If you do, the extractions you run with that key are sent to that provider for processing — and those providers are based in the United States.
In other words: storage is always in the EU, and the default AI provider is in the EU, but if you choose to use a US-based provider with your own key, those specific extractions are processed in the US. This is your choice, and we make it visible in your provider-key settings.
What “processed in Europe” means precisely
- Document storage: always in the EU (Cloudflare R2, EU jurisdiction).
- Default AI processing: in the EU (Mistral, France).
- Optional AI processing: in the US, only when you connect and use your own OpenAI, Anthropic, or Google key.
